CSE 101 was offered on a pilot basis during Summer, 1997 with one track. During Fall, 1997, we offered three tracks across 55 sections to 1650 students. Currently, we have 65 sections serving 1950 students per semester.
The textbook, classwork, and evaluation are revised continuously in light of changing competencies of incoming students, changes in software systems and the growing needs of our client departments. A major revision of the course went on-line in Summer 2005.
The Computer Science Department changed its name to Department of Computer Science and Engineering, effective Summer, 1999. The department code therefore changed from CPS to CSE, and all courses that were previously CPSxxx are now designated as CSExxx.
